Citizens for a Better City (CBC) Logo Design Contest Instructions

Introduction: In honor of the 65th anniversary of its founding, the Citizens for a Better City (CBC) of Falls Church, Virginia, is pleased to announce a contest to design a new logo to replace its long-standing predecessor. We are seeking a unique and expressive logo that captures CBC’s abiding commitment to civic engagement, high-quality services, outstanding public schools, sustainable development, environmental protection, and maintaining our city’s independent status. It is our hope that the new  logo will represent our mission and values as we continue to work towards a better future for our community.

Contest Objectives:

1. Promote civic engagement and leadership.

2. Reflect our dedication to excellence in public education and outstanding city services.

3. Emphasize our commitment to environmental preservation and sustainability.

4. Highlight our dedication to preserving Falls Church's unique identity and autonomy.

 

Design Guidelines:

1. Concept: The design should visually communicate CBC’s core values – civic engagement, outstanding public schools and city services, environmental sustainability, and our city’s independence.

2. Style: The logo should be modern, clean, and well-conceived and look good in color and black and white.

3. Color Scheme: While we are open to creative use of colors, please ensure the design is

suitable for various mediums and applications.

4. Typography: If your design includes text, use clear, legible fonts. The text should include

the organization’s name, “Citizens for a Better City,” and can include an optional tagline

or motto if it complements the design.

5. Format: Submit your design in high-resolution (300 DPI) in both vector (PDF) and

raster (JPG) formats. Include a black-and-white and a color version.

6. Size: Ensure the logo is scalable and looks good in various sizes. It should be effective

as both a small icon and a large graphic.

7. Originality: The design must be original and not infringe on any trademarks or copyrights.

 

Submission Requirements:

1. Submission Deadline : Thursday, October 24, 2024.

2. Submission Method: the logo design should be emailed to fallschurchcbc@gmail.com with the subject line “CBC Logo Design Contest Submission.”

3. Required Information: Include your full name, contact information, a brief description of

your design, and how it aligns with CBC’s core values.

 

Judging Criteria:

CBC members will have the opportunity to vote on the entries via email between November 4th – 13th . Voters will be asked to consider the following criteria:

1. How well does the design represent CBC’s core values?

2. How creative and original is the design?

3. Is the logo visually appealing/striking?

4. Does the logo work well in various formats and sizes?

 

Announcement of Winner:

The winning logo will be announced on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 and will be featured on CBC’s website and the Falls Church News Press.
